Edible Icing Images in Surrey, BC

Icing images are printed on a thin layer of sugar icing backed with a peel-away sheet. Once applied, the icing softens into the frosting underneath, so the picture looks painted on rather than stuck on. That makes them the right choice for photographs, full-colour artwork and anything with gradients or skin tones.

For a round cake, measure the top of the cake rather than the pan: buttercream adds width, and a circle about half an inch smaller than the top leaves room for a piped border. For a quarter-sheet cake, a full 8 × 11 print usually sits neatly in the centre with a border on all four sides.

Apply the image to fresh buttercream that has crusted slightly, or to fondant brushed with a very thin layer of water or piping gel. Peel the backing, lay the image down from one edge to the other and smooth it gently with clean, dry hands. Avoid whipped cream and very wet icings; they can make colours bleed.

Many Surrey customers collect their sheets on the way to a family event, so keep the sealed bag flat and out of a hot car. If you are decorating a day ahead, store the finished cake in a cake box at cool room temperature, not uncovered in the fridge, where condensation can blur the print.
